Yes I know, the bed is probably the second-best thing after breaking bad show. However, many of us struggle to get out of bed and start our day. The warm and cozy feeling is priceless. So you would rather spend around 2 to 3 hours in bed just checking your phone, maybe stare at the ceiling and do nothing? Sounds familiar, eh? I am guilty of doing that myself. So that’s why in this article I am going to go through some of the tips I use and it helped me to get through this.
What To Do?
As I mentioned above, I tried these tips myself. So I am sure they will work for you too. Let’s start.
Start Slowly
By starting slowly I mean just try to sit up. Sounds very basic, right? Sometimes when you just sit up, you are now halfway through. And believe me, it brings you one step closer to getting up.
Alarms
You have to use alarms. But you can easily turn it off and go back to sleep. That’s why I suggest putting your phone out of reach. So that you will eventually have to get up to shut it off. And since you are already up, you may want to open your curtains so that you make it harder for yourself to go back to bed when the sunlight is hitting your face.
Have your next day schedule ready
Sometimes when you are overwhelmed by the number of things you need to do. So making a schedule/plan actually helps your future you to be ready to start the day. If you don’t have a plan, you probably would rather stay in bed to avoid the anxiety resulting from the overwhelming things that need to be done.
Did you try having breakfast outside?
You may not want to do this every day if you are on a budget. However, from time to time it feels good to have a change. Having your breakfast outside can literally change your mood for the rest of the day. Also, it is a good motivation to help you get out of bed. Knowing that you are going to have breakfast at your favorite place. Also, the sunlight will help alleviate your mood according to Boston University Medical Center
Treat yourself
You can also implement a reward system for yourself that if you got up from bed immediately. Like you are going to give yourself a cookie (please do not eat it in the morning). Or you can allow yourself to play a call of duty game (this one you can do in the morning). Whatever you see that can make a great reward just do it.
Lean on someone
I saved this option for last because personally, I don’t like it. Nevertheless, it’s effective! If you live with someone, just try to make them wake you up and do not leave you until you are out of bed. I know it’s going to be annoying but hey, you will thank them/me later.
Somedays you can just stay in bed for a while
If you feel tired or overworked the past couple of days, it’s ok to just take the day off and adjust your schedule to catch up this day over the week. So by doing this, you will be guilt-free and you can really enjoy the rest to clear your mind and be sharp the next day.
Conclusion
You are definitely not alone, so don’t be hard on yourself. Implementing these tips will help you. However, if you failed to get up immediately for the first few days, don’t beat yourself up. You just need to make it a habit and slowly the struggle will be resolved.
